Sinclair Broadcast Group News Director in Green Bay, Wisconsin

WLUK FOX 11, NE Wisconsin’s most preferred TV and Digital news operation and home to the NFC of the NFL is seeking an experienced, hands-on News Director with strong leadership skills and a bold style to lead one of the strongest local newsrooms in the country. The News Director is involved in all aspects of the Content Center, from managing content on all platforms to recruiting, hiring, and training. You have the opportunity to work with an amazing team and supportive company to lead a group of journalists who strive to serve our communities. Our mission is to produce impactful stories with a distinctive focus on balanced news and severe weather coverage across all platforms. You must have a passion for innovation and embrace multiple platform storytelling. We need someone who can super serve our audience and deliver 24/7 content with storytelling optimized for each screen.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the station’s news operations, setting budgets, establishing goals and directing the staff that produces 40+ hours of local news weekly

  • Responsible for initiating and managing growing content delivery on multiple platforms

  • Work closely with local and corporate management to establish News strategy, content, philosophy and direction

  • Review daily newscasts to ensure quality control, brand compliance, and subsequently provide feedback to all news staff

  • Recruiting, hiring and training news department personnel

  • Collaborate with other managers to establish strategic goals, collaborate to develop marketing plans, and effectively reach goals

  • Initiating and managing growing content delivery both on linear and digital platforms

  • Teaching, coaching and mentoring the newsroom for best practices

  • Fostering an inspiring and inclusive culture

  • Producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must have a working knowledge of journalistic ethics, libel, and privacy laws

  • Will bring strong fiscal experience for both operational and capital expenditures

  • Must have a demonstrated ability to manage daily newscasts and producing targeted content on all platforms.

  • Journalism degree and a minimum of 5 years experience in news management, producing or reporting, with noted leadership skills is required

  • Ability to work as a team

  • Excellent communication skills
