COUNTY OF BROWN Planning Director in GREEN BAY, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Performs work of unusual difficulty in the development and administration of diverse programs involving County planning. This position also oversees the Planning and Land Services Department\'s Property Listing/Survey Division, Shoreland Zoning Division, and Land Information Office. Estimated start date for position: April 2025 Essential Duties Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of all programs within the Planning and Land Services Department. Advises the County Executive, County Board of Supervisors, and the Brown County Planning Commission Board of Directors on planning and other matters. Oversees the preparation of the Planning and Land Services Department\'s annual work programs and budgets. Provides technical support to authorities and commissions, including preparation of reports, policies, and position papers. Informs authorities and commissions of current planning legislation as it relates to land use, natural resources protection, housing, community and economic development, and transportation. Develops and oversees the development of applications for state and federal grant funds. Coordinates all activities of the Planning and Land Services Department\'s work with other County departments and other public agencies. Represents the County on planning and related issues to civic, community, student, and other organizations. Assists individuals and groups in working with the County government structure. Represents the department and County before various state and federal agencies. Coordinates with federal, state, regional, and local economic development agencies. Assigns staff to various programs and projects and provides overall supervision to division managers and staff, including coordination and evaluation of assignments. Supervises and evaluates projects, resolves staff problems, and works with the County\'s Human Resources and Administration Departments to hire, promote, and terminate staff. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED: General office equipment Computer Automobile ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of all aspects of regional, community, and county planning. Knowledge of applicable municipal, county, state, and federal laws pertaining to regional, community, and county planning as well as laws pertaining to property listing, shoreland zoning, land division, land information, and other related programs. Knowledge of public budgeting processes and funding resources available for economic development, transportation, land information, housing, shoreland zoning, and other related programs. Knowledge of principles associated with the development and implementation of comprehensive plans. Knowledge of federal and state planning programs, grants, and regulations associated with land use, transportation, economic development, housing, water quality, and sewer service area planning. Knowledge of planning practices and design principles that promote quality of life elements in local development. Knowledge of and ability to utilize a computer and the required software. Comprehensive skill in application of principles and practices of municipal, county, or regional planning. Skill in the interpretation of the application of municipal, county, state, and federal laws governing city planning and county planning. Skill in coordinating the work of people within a variety of professional disciplines.
