Job Description:
The Specialist, Systems Engineer (SE) performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and troubleshooting for total systems and or subsystems. The Specialist SE is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communication platforms.
Essential Functions:
Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains.
Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
Perform requirement traceability.
Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs.
Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
Working knowledge of LAN and VOIP protocols to include IP routing.
Knowledge of mission systems: EO/IR, Video, Networks, SI/EW, etc.
Model-based Systems Engineering and Simulation experience.
Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications.
Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose.
Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process.
Conducting verification testing.
Working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
Developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans.
Engineering efforts involving FAA-certified general category aircraft.
Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills.
Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support.
Configuration and integration of aircraft RF and satellite communications systems, or cryptographic equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of prior hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.
Graduate Degree with minimum of two (2) years of prior hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of eight (8) years of prior hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware in a multi-domain mobile airborne datalink, video, and voice systems environment.
Must have an active Secret DoD clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI security clearance.
Must be a US Citizen.
