Job Description: Engineering Technical Manager

Position Summary: Responsible for creating, planning, directing and coordinating maintenance processes within the building for all operating shifts. Provide expertise, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.

Role qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field of study strongly preferred, or may substitute suitable experience.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Background in investigating and reporting nonconformance, equipment calibration, and machine maintenance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintains training programs to ensure correct operating procedure, corrective/preventive/predictive maintenance routines.
  • Cultivates a Safety-First culture at all times, along with enforce safety rules and safe work practices, especially 5S.
  • Maintains a spare parts inventory.
  • Maintains documentation & library on building, equipment assets, and grounds
  • Define and execute plans with internal staff reports plus external contractors for various trades and types of work on facilities and equipment.
  • Able to trouble-shoot electrically, and direct work of others
  • Create standard work instructions as needed
  • Recommend technology, product changes and workspace layout modifications to existing production standards to achieve optimum quality and efficiency.
  • Direct the operation and maintenance of facility systems and utilities for power, compressed air, vacuum, hydraulic, hydro, fire suppression, and energy conservation.
  • Experience with TPM program development, training, and implementation. Promotes precision maintenance via techniques not limited to vibration, infrared, ultrasound, motor circuit evaluation, oil sampling
  • Aid and report on work assignments, machine capacity, production schedules, and anticipated delays.
  • Coordinate the purchase of special equipment, materials, or parts and ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Create and assist with training programs for Maintenance personnel
  • Coordinate and supervise repairs of equipment.
  • Requires the flexibility of working on off-shifts for observation, analysis and training.
  • Delegates tasks to direct reports.
  • Employee may be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Extensive engineering knowledge with solid electrical background. Able to work with, and trouble-shoot wiring diagrams, drawings, schematics, specifications, ladder logic, and electric circuit theory concepts -both AC and DC.
  • High energy, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and share technical information with management.
  • Must be able to apply sound judgment and decision-making skills in dealing with a variety of routine issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Personnel management experience
  • Ability to trouble-shoot equipment malfunction, downtime or stoppage.
  • Practical hands-on experience with plastics processes with knowledge of how formulation changes impact processing is a plus.
  • Willing to work in both office and floor environments.

Reporting to this position: Maintenance Technicians, other Technicians as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach w th hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
