Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Seasonal Human Resources Manager to support our team at Glacier Bay Lodge in Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. This unique role is based in a remote, breathtakingly beautiful location and serves as the central HR resource for a close-knit seasonal staff of approximately 60 employees. The ideal candidate is resourceful, approachable, and capable of managing all aspects of HR in a remote setting, from recruitment to employee relations.

This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of April 24 - September 10, 2025.

Employees are responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position. Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training.
Job Responsibilities
This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by fostering a positive, supportive, and compliant work environment in a truly unforgettable setting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Recruitment and Onboarding
Facilitate the onboarding process, ensuring new hires are set up for success, including orientation and training.
Coordinate employee arrivals, including housing assignments and transportation logistics.
Manage the full-cycle recruitment process of additional hiring needs as required, including posting job openings, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and extending offers.
2. Employee Relations
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee concerns, questions, and feedback.
Mediate conflicts and provide guidance to managers and staff to resolve issues professionally and fairly.
Foster a positive workplace culture through team-building activities and regular communication.
Resolve general employee relations issues; provide direction and recommendations to all levels of leadership, ensure fairness and consistency of policy and practice.
Provide consultation to managers on policies and compliance regarding employment-related matters.
Investigate and resolve employee complaints, issues, and concerns regarding employment practices originating from the employee hotline and other sources.
Conduct interviews and prepare relevant documentation using investigation guidelines.
Recommend appropriate resolution of complaints, develop action plans and follow up to ensure completion.
3. Compliance and Documentation
Provide consultation to managers on policies and compliance regarding employment-related matters.
Ensure all HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Maintain accurate and organized personnel records, including contracts, timekeeping, and payroll information.
Oversee employee policies and procedures, updating as necessary to reflect current standards.
4. Payroll and Benefits Administration
Manage payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for all employees.
Provide support for employee benefits, including seasonal housing arrangements and perks like park activity discounts.
Address employee questions about pay, benefits, and housing.
5. Seasonal Housing Oversight
Oversee the maintenance, assignment, and standards of employee housing to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.
Act as a liaison between staff and housing maintenance teams to address concerns promptly.
6. HR Leadership in a Remote Setting
Adapt HR processes to the unique challenges of a remote location, including limited resources and diverse seasonal staff.
Build strong relationships with employees and managers to create a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.
Assist with planning for the end of the season, including employee departures and evaluations.

Qualifications
2 + years of experience in employee relations or related experience
Bachelor?s degree in HR or a equivalent experience required
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate with tact and diplomacy
Ability to influence others on policies, practices, and procedure
Effective at capturing and synthesizing information from multiple parties
Solid understanding of employment laws
Ability to handle sensitive and highly personal information daily and maintain confidentiality in a mature and insightful manner
Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with case management technology preferred
Bilingual preferred
