Job Description
Oracle Cloud Data Center Sourcing is seeking a US-based Senior Principal Renewable Energy & Utilities Manager, reporting to the Energy & Sustainability Director. As a renewable energy leader, you will have day-to-day responsibility for shaping and driving Oracle Cloud’s approach to clean energy procurement specifically electricity, as well as supporting broader team efforts around energy innovation, decarbonization and sustainability. As part of Oracle, we have a goal to reach 100% renewable energy, halve our global operational emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. Sustainable and scalable energy procurement is growing in focus across our business and this role will provide critical expertise and execution across Oracle Cloud data centers.

Responsible for day-to-day management of Oracle Cloud’s data center clean and renewable energy strategy across specific markets – with near term priority in U.S. deregulated markets but possible oversight in North and South America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific.
Create and manage requirements around renewable energy sourcing leveraging offsite and behind-the-meter solutions to deliver a scalable clean and renewable energy roadmap, while considering Oracle’s immediate power needs.
Manage financial modeling and analysis, RFPs, contract negotiations, supplier onboarding.
Work closely with renewable energy developers, utilities, NGOs, policy makers, and internal stakeholders to monitor real-time market conditions that will information short-term and long-term transaction decisions.
Engage with energy and sustainability consultant(s) to evolve strategy and reporting.
Cross-functionally develop and manage relationships across Oracle including with capacity planning, data center infrastructure build, site selection, supply chain management, data center engineering, data center operations, and corporate sustainability and procurement teams.
Coordinate with onsite generation and other solution providers and teams to ensure seamless power delivery across a range of technologies – utility grids, behind the meter solutions, gas plants, virtual and delivered renewables etc.
Partner with finance on developing annual budgets based on knowledge of current and future footprint and changing energy prices.
Prepare white papers and presentations for executives on strategy and progress.
Qualifications
Desire to work in the fast-paced environment of AI/GPU computing and hyperscale data center design, construction, and operations.
10-12+ years professional experience; 5-7+ years managing corporate (C&I) renewable energy procurement or utility/IPP renewable energy origination, within a large matrix environment.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, STEM or business with technical expertise on energy and data center topics.
Understanding of regulated and deregulated energy markets, energy supply agreements, green tariffs and virtual and delivered power purchase agreements (VPPAs, PPAs), environmental attribute certificates (EACs, RECs).
Experience with mark to market accounting and managing market exposure.
Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and making carbon reduction and renewable energy claims: Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Science-based Targets, CDP, Greenhouse Gas Protocol, etc.
Experience developing annual renewable energy budgets and working with finance teams to project the cost of power.
Advanced Excel expertise building financial models and analyzing energy rates, riders, fees etc.
Articulate, executive presence, comfort with negotiations and supplier engagement.
Willingness to support global time zones.
Willingness to travel as required including internationally.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
1-3+ years experience managing electricity procurement in both regulated and deregulated markets.
Solid understanding of utility interconnection processes and familiarity with transmission planning
Deep network of energy suppliers and renewable energy traders.
Experience in developing nuclear power, renewable gas, etc. solutions to aid in achieving carbon reductions beyond that which renewable energy can achieve.
Data center or mission critical expertise developing and executing energy strategies cross-functionally.
1-2+ years people management experience.
Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Ten or more years of project management, product design or related experience needed.
