SERV Behavioral Health System Assistant Controller in Hamilton, New Jersey
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for general ledger processing and bank reconciliations, cash management and annual report filings for SERV’s multiple operating companies. The Assistant Controller will oversee all accounting functionality including supervision of the processing and preparation of financial transactions for SERV’s operating companies. Responsibilities
Oversees accounting functions as assigned; implements compliant accounting processes and internal controls as needed.
Ensures accurate recording of financial transactions.
Analyzes, monitors and reports cash flow associated with all banks; monitors account balances and conducts bank reconciliations.
Assists with cash management including ACH transfers, deposits and recording transactions.
Ensures General Ledger transactions are accurate and detailed to facilitate reporting.
Manages Properties and Management accounting, including maintenance of rent schedules, tracking and recording rent receivables, and purchase openings and closings.
May provide oversight to Accounts Payable, Representative Payee and/or Residential Service Fee Processes
Provides direct supervision to Staff Accountants, Billing Specialists and Accounting Assistants.
Assists with audits and special projects as needed.
Additional duties as assigned or as needed to support departmental or organizational goals
Qualifications & Skills
Familiarity with accounting software
Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills with mastery in Excel
Familiarity with Netsmart My Evolv is a plus
Leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire others
Ability to navigate stressful situations with maturity, confidence and a calm demeanor
Ability to build credibility and trust in interpersonal relationships
Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines
Proven track record of successfully managing a highly dynamic, results oriented environment
Ability to successfully work with a diverse workforce utilizing the talents and abilities of employees to effectively build and direct a result-driven team
Strong written and oral communication skills
Required Licenses or Experience
Four Year / bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
At least 5 years’ accounting & finance experience working in a complex human service not for profit environment with multiple funding sources including fee for service and managed care
Experience working with multiple companies / subsidiaries to track intercompany transactions
Experience in real estate transactions, including tax credits and HUD preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
Strong accounting & financial reporting background and working knowledge of accounting principles applicable to non profit organizations
Valid driver’s license in the state of residence
