Description We are looking for a skilled Accounting Clerk to join our team in the education sector at a university located in HAMPTON, Virginia, 23668, United States. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity where you will be tasked with handling various accounting-related responsibilities. Your primary focus will be managing student refunds, reconciling accounts, and addressing queries related to grants and scholarships.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the process of student refunds in a timely and accurate manner

• Handle inquiries related to grants and scholarships, providing clear and concise information

• Carry out account reconciliation tasks to ensure accuracy in financial records

• Support with accounts payable activities to ensure all financial obligations are met

• Provide additional support in the accounting department as needed, contributing to the efficiency of our operations

• Engage with students, providing top-notch customer service and resolving any accounting-related issues they might have

• Monitor and manage student accounts, taking appropriate action when necessary

• Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of all customer transactions

• Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently

• Maintain accurate customer credit records. Requirements • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited university.

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation and Accounts Payable (AP) is mandatory.

• Proven experience in a similar role within the education or related industry is desirable.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail are essential.

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is required.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data accurately.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

• Knowledge of relevant accounting regulations and standards.

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Must possess a strong ethical framework and professional integrity.
