Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented HR Assistant to support our Human Resources team at a local nonprofit. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working in a nonprofit environment and will provide essential support in managing HR functions. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to confidentiality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with recruitment processes, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and preparing offer letters.

  • Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires, including orientation and document collection.

  • Maintain and update employee records and HR databases with accuracy and confidentiality.

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a contact point for employee inquiries, providing support on HR-related issues and escalating concerns to HR management as needed.

  • Assist in organizing employee engagement activities and recognition programs.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and nonprofit regulations.

  • Assist in preparing and submitting required reports and maintaining documentation for audits and regulatory purposes.

Payroll and Benefits Administration:

  • Support payroll processing by collecting and verifying timekeeping data and employee information.

  • Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and answering employee questions.

Training and Development:

  • Help coordinate training sessions and professional development opportunities.

  • Maintain records of employee training and track progress.

Office Management:

  • Manage HR office supplies and coordinate with vendors as needed.

  • Assist in maintaining a positive and organized HR office environment.

    Requirements

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience as an HR Assistant or in a similar administrative role, preferably within a nonprofit organization.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

  • Knowledge of HR principles and nonprofit regulations is a plus.

  • Familiarity with HR software and databases is advantageous.
