Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS) is currently seeking a VP, Risk Engineering for our Construction division. This position reports to the Head of Core Services and can be based in one of our Zurich offices, with travel expected.
The Construction Risk Engineering leader is responsible for the formulation and execution of strategy for Risk Engineering within our US Construction Segment. This includes leadership of large field based technical servicing teams that are delivering a range of operational and strategic risk management services to our Construction Insurance customers. This role is also responsible for international program business written in the territory or serviced by the country/territory teams and provides representation on the country and regional leadership teams.
We are looking for a leader that has strong consulting, negotiating, relationship management, cross-selling, loss control/risk engineering, risk assessment, risk improvement and strong account management experience. This role will partner with the Construction SBU, including Underwriting, Portfolio Management and Technical Underwriting teams. In addition, this role works closely with the Risk Engineering stakeholders within the US and throughout the Risk Engineering Global Network. This role also works closely with our external customers in support of their construction risk mitigation efforts. This includes customer-specific presentations and industry forum speaking engagements.
Key Accountabilities
Driving the strategy, reducing large losses, bringing innovation and delivering on our services
Formulation and execution of strategy for cluster, aligned to functional and market facing drivers
Leadership and development of employees
Direct management of practice leaders and field based technical teams
Development of detailed Risk Engineering utilization and deployment of strategies in conjunction with stakeholder representatives
Execution of annual operational and financial plans
Accountable for financial, capability and capacity planning
Accountable for the on-going competency and technical delivery by cluster personnel in accordance with relevant standards
Management of sub-contractor relationships and their performance
Spokesperson for Risk Engineering in country/territory in dealings with media and internally.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area AND
Construction Management/Insurance experience
People Management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge of Construction Risk Engineering methodologies and the insurance industry
Experience managing, leading and developing large teams and managers
Strong delivery mind-set and innovation within the construction lines of business
Progressive experience in leadership, organizational development, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Advanced skills and experience in all aspects of consulting, partnering with business leaders, market facing and relationship building
Excellent organization skills, interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate to all levels of management

We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $197,800.00 - $324,000.00 with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 35%.
