About you and this role -What you would do in this role

As an Instrument Technician, you would be part of an experienced maintenance team providing support to a Dow Coatings manufacturing plant. You would collaborate on the maintenance and repairs all types of pneumatic, electronic, and instrument equipment used in the manufacturing process. Utilizing your proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments.

Responsibilities- Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role.

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs industrial instrumentation, such as pressure, liquid level, flow, temperature, automated valves, valve positioners, pneumatic systems, solenoids, and limit switches.

  • Ability to interpret control drawings, P&IDs, loop sheets, and schematics.

  • Uses instrumentation test/communication equipment for troubleshooting and resolving instrument maintenance issues on Emerson HART, Fieldbus, or ASi bus systems.

  • Specification of instrumentation for replacements/upgrades.

  • Writes, or help in writing, job procedures.

  • Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Qualifications -Required education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves).

  • Must be 18 years old or older.

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • A minimum of 1 year of commercial or industrial instrumentation/electrical work experience.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills -An expanded list of qualifications that are "nice to have", but not essential.

  • Instrumentation certification, such as from NCCER, ETA, IAHCSMM, NICET, a Trade School or Associates Degree in a related field.

  • 5 years of manufacturing experience.

  • Experience with basic controls theory, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and human machine interface (HMI).

  • Ability to work on de-energized electrical (120 VAC) equipment, breakers, and motor control centers.

  • SAP experience.

The physical abilities, with or without reasonable accommodations, include:

  • Work in tight spaces.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills are required.

  • Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.

  • A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

For positions based in California, Dow is required by law to include the pay scale that is reasonably expected to represent the pay range for the position. This pay range is specific to the State of California and accounts for both new and experienced employees with consideration to factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, and sustained job performance (or similar jobs).

A reasonable hourly base pay range for this position is: $34.04 – $60.58. For those employees who are eligible for overtime pay, payment will be made under the provisions of federal and state law (typically, 1.5X of your regular hourly rate).
