If so, then you may be the right person for the Community Engagement Coordinator position with the Governor’s Office of Community Service (GOCS). Although attached to DLI for administrative purposes only, GOCS has its own functions. The Governor’s Office of Community Service (GOCS) exists to expand national service and community volunteerism across Montana. GOCS is a state service commission responsible for administering federal funding for AmeriCorps State programs in Montana and coordinating with other AmeriCorps programs such as National Directs, VISTA, and NCCC. GOCS is led by a Governor-appointed Director and is supported by a fifteen-member Commission on Community Service. GOCS partners with all streams of AmeriCorps service programs and community-based organizations to meet the objectives and goals of the state service plan. As a Community Engagement Coordinator you will: * Report to the Director as an essential role in supporting and leading community volunteerism initiatives, recognition events, and will engage with impactful partnerships. * Will perform a key role in special projects and events related to fundraising for the Organ Donor Memorial. * Will work independently and with a dynamic team, community partners, and other stakeholders to administer recurring programs such as Youth Serve Montana Scholarships, ServeMontana Awards, the Gift of Life Ceremony, and will support the ServeMontana Symposium. * Will work to identify, suggest, and implement process improvements to GOCS community volunteerism programs. * Will manage administrative and outreach functions for their projects, including documenting procedures, drafting correspondence and reports, and maintaining spreadsheets and electronic files. * Will build positive professional relationships with community partners and will represent the Governor’s Office of Community Service during outreach events, with the Commission on Community Service, the Office of the Governor, AmeriCorps, members of the public, and other affiliates. * Will travel in and out-of-state to meet with partners, to attend conferences and trainings such as the annual State Tribal Relations Training, the Montana Nonprofit Association, and other development opportunities as time and budget allows. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES: If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills or abilities: Knowledge of (or ability to learn in a reasonable amount of time): * Customer service, event planning, logistics, and community partnerships * Public relations, basic marketing and effective communication styles * Montana communities and collaborative engagement * GOCS mission and initiatives. Skill in: * Project management, managing multiple priorities, and process improvement * Communicating professionally with a wide variety of audiences, public speaking, and paying attention to detail * Time management- managing ones own priorities while considering priorities of others * Microsoft Office Suite programs strongly preferred Ability to: * Work professionally with people of all ages at all levels within diverse organizations, and present information clearly * Manage projects to completion, stay organized, give and receive constructive feedback * Work effectively in a team environment while demonstrating initiative and accountability to maintain a high level of productivity * Assist the Director to nurture existing and build new partnerships MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Your preparation for this opportunity could include a combination of relevant experiences including: * Bachelor's degree in communications, public administration, or a closely related field, or a related field plus 2 years directly related experience required. OR * 5 years of directly related qualifying experience. .
