The Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks Design and Construction Bureau mission is "to serve and assist all FWP divisions and the citizens of the State of Montana in the design and construction of quality facilities, repair andmaintenance ofexistingfacilities, and planning for their governmental, biological,and recreational facility needs."Thoseefforts include project oversight on some of the most extraordinary natural resources Montana has to offer. Candidate must have knowledge of general civil, architectural, and environmental engineering principles, theories and applicable stipulations, state laws, and guidelines. The candidate must also have knowledge of design and construction engineering and related policies, methods, specifications, standards, and regulations. Candidate should have experience in contract administration including contract claims management practices, change orders, construction traffic control, equipment operation and capabilities, materials and testing, and safety practices. Position requires ability to interpret plans and specifications, investigate, analyze and develop comprehensive solutions to complex construction and design problems associated with major projects or policies. Ability to solve problems in innovative and unique ways and think critically is essential. Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, as well as work in a team and get along with others. Must be able to prioritize projects effectively and shift efforts between multiple projects as needed. Must have general knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software. The position requires a good working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D Engineering software including analyzing system problems and making the necessary corrections to make the software work.Knowledge and experience in general land surveying practices, including use of total station and GPS survey equipment preferable. The position requires frequent travel, often overnight but seldom more than three consecutive days. Some manual labor is required and physical condition to accomplish tasks is necessary. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. The work commonly involves long hours of outdoor activity sometimes in adverse conditions. This position is required to have or be eligible for a valid driver's license and the ability to drive a vehicle as the position requires, on average, 1000 miles of travel (driving a car/truck) per month. This position also performs work in a typical office environment with extensive computer use. The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, and operate a computer and telephone. May sit for extended periods. The incumbent may also encounter periodic stressful occurrences. * *Job Duties: * * Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of Department facilities including administrative, recreational, hatchery and wildlife management facilities. Specific facility elements include building structures and facilities such as roads, bridges, campgrounds, boat ramps, channels, dams,irrigationprojects, pipelines, water and sewage systems, and waste disposal units. The knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position are typically acquired throughA bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, or related field and 5 or more years of experience of which at least 2 years must have been in construction engineering and contract administration.
