Cardinal Health Director of Construction in Helena, Montana

The Director of Construction will lead a team of project managers on all aspects of construction for all facilities and construction projects in North America. Working with all Cardinal Health business units and business Leaders to develop construction projects that support their respective business functions. This includes understanding the business function and conceiving a facility that accommodates this function including corporate office, warehouses, pharmaceutical/medical products manufacturing and laboratories. Leading a team of 6 – 8 internal construction project managers who execute on the deployment of $40 – 80 million in capital including 100+ projects annually. Projects range in size and scope from simple remodels, HVAC design and replacement, largescale refrigerator/freezer builds, roof replacements, building additions and new from the ground up buildings. This role works closely with external partners including landlords, architects, contractors, vendors, and municipalities while collaborating internally with cross functional teams to ensure projects meet quality, timeline and budget objectives. The ideal candidate has expertise in construction project management across multiple states & industries, experience navigating municipal zoning and permitting processes, value engineering and be adept at balancing external and internal demands.
There is only one position based out of the United States.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of 6-8 construction project managers to ensure successful project execution.
Develop and implement processes to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Provide strategic oversight and direction for construction team/projects, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
Contribute to operational and strategic planning to ensure the company’s long-term success on construction projects.
Lead in risk assessment, contract negotiations, and making critical fee and pricing decisions.
Serve as the primary point of contact for market leaders, symbolizing the face of excellence in project performance.
Identify new opportunities and actively participate in the development of proposals that accurately and concisely define the scope of work, which achieves the clients’ objectives and support group decisions.
Mentor, develop, and cultivate the talents of your team, guiding them towards achieving personal and professional milestones.
Willingness to lead by example in all team roles, fostering unity and collaboration of the project team. Ability to step into every role on the project as needed to maintain team effectiveness and moral.
Work with Cardinal Health Business units to develop annual capital plans, evaluating alternatives and setting priorities for capital deployment.
Oversee of contractor and consultant selection as well as construction contracting methods such as construction manager, design/build and design/bid/build.
Manage a construction document archive of over 22,000 documents.
Coordinate all internal disciplines including Finance, Legal, Security, Information Technology, Quality & Regulatory, EH&S, Branding and Communications.
Lead multifunctional teams of stakeholders and contributors to deliver large complex projects on time and under budget
Lead team in the adoption of ever-changing technology, internal processes and procedures
Lead team in finding creative cost-effective solutions to growing regulatory oversite
Pro-actively build and maintain relationships with business leaders
Influence others and drive change management across the organization
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related field or commensurate experience preferred
Experience in construction project management, project estimating, or construction development.
Ability to interpret federal, state, and local ordinances, regulations and past approvals pertaining to development and construction-related activities
Excellent technical knowledge of all things construction building systems, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, fire suppression and general contracting practices.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, with some AutoCAD experience preferred.
Prior program/project management experience with multi workstreams, cross functionally dependent
Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive operational success.
Proven ability to stay ahead of challenges, think strategically, and proactively resolve issues.
Organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to lead a team remotely, work independently, make tough decisions, and take ownership of results.
Self-starter and team-player with ability to identify problems and develop creative solutions.
Analytical ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze information to make decisions that affect the overall operations or results
Ability to travel up to 25-30% of the time.
Anticipated salary range: $125,000 - $185,000
