Health Savings Account (HSA)

Description

Your Health Savings Account (HSA) is a personal savings fund. In general,

you use your HSA funds to pay for eligible health care expenses that your

health care plan does not cover. This includes expenses you incur before

you meet your deductible.

Once you meet the deductible, your health care plan begins to pay its share

of the costs. That is how your HSA and plan work together. Your HSA is

funded through your contributions. Any funds left in your account will roll

over from year to year. That is how you can save for future medical expenses.

Eligible Expenses

You can use your HSA funds to pay for all health care expenses that are considered eligible by the IRS and are

not paid for by your plan. This includes medical, dental, vision and hearing care expenses. The HSA covers

expenses for you as well as for your spouse and dependent children.

Your expenses are first paid from the HSA and count towards your deductible. If you spend all your HSA funds

before you meet the deductible, you will need to pay any additional expenses until the deductible is met.

Then, your plan begins to pay its share of expenses.

Setting up an HSA

You can establish your account at any financial institution that handles HSAs. However, Brilex is working with a

provider to give employees easy access to HSAs. That provider is PNC BenefitPlus.

contribution of $1,000.
