The Infrastructure Security Team is responsible for the security and risk management of the AWS Infrastructure. We build systems that detect, assess, and mitigate risk across the global infrastructure and are accountable for keeping the Amazon Infrastructure secure and compliant with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. The Infrastructure Security Team is looking for a Security Engineering Manager to lead our Infrastructure Security Compliance team. The successful candidate is expected to be a leader who can deliver through high performing, diverse Security Engineers and who understands and sets a high bar for all parts of security, software development, deployment, and operations. This leader will also be required to have strong impact and influence across AWS to drive a single control framework for AWS Infrastructure Services.

You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, demonstrate high impact and influence across teams, and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. Key job responsibilities

Work with the AWS Assurance (central compliance) Team and the Supply Chain Risk Management Team to translate external audit, contract requirements, and emerging risk into actionable requirements for Infrastructure Services.

Work with management, customers and adjacent teams to build state of the art solutions, incorporate new technologies, and algorithms

Set quality standards, build mechanisms and processes for team efficiency continuously inventing and simplifying

Work backwards from customer needs, build and track business metrics by which the team works to improve customer impact

There is a minimum of x3/weekly onsite office time is required for this role.

A day in the life

Infrastructure Compliance translates information security policies, regulations, and customer expectations into security outcomes for Builders. We surface risks and develop effective mitigations to enable AWS Infrastructure Services to exceed our customers’ expectations.

About the team

Infra Compliance represents AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) for all aspects of information security and compliance audits, including networking, supply chain, and physical security. More specifically, our remit includes all infrastructure and services including external services.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 6+ years of experience in

  • technical security leadership roles; technical compliance leadership roles, or security executive roles

  • 6+ years of experience with engagement and working with senior security and business stakeholders

  • 5+ years’ experience with ISO/NIST based compliance and cybersecurity frameworks

  • 5+ years of technical program management experience and demonstrated knowledge of program management best practices

  • Prior experience hiring and developing a high performing teams that deliver customer outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in with complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.

  • Experience in leading through software engineers to improve security of their software.

  • Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project.

  • Excellent leadership, verbal and written communication skills.

  • A strong customer orientation.

  • Deep experience working with technical teams to deliver results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $157,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
