SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible to provide supervision and administration of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Shop personnel including training, performance reviews, scheduling, assignments, discipline, timekeeping, safety and support for the above staff. Manage and oversee the operation and maintenance of equipment associated with these shops. Ensure maintenance and repair of numerous air handlers, pumps, furnaces, heating/ventilation units, refrigerators, ice machines, etc. This position will also provide 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotational basis with occasional emergency response required during unscheduled times to include weather related.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A). Bachelor’s degree with five years of related experience required;

Or B). Associates Degree in HVAC/Refrigeration Technology or a closely related field plus seven years of related experience required;

Or C). Nine years of related facilities maintenance experience required. Experience must include at least four years of supervisory experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Excellent customer service skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Good computer skills.

Project development and management skills.

Ability to collect, manage, analyze and report data.

Ability to learn, understand and stay current with regulatory requirements.

Basic budgeting skills.

Knowledge of equipment, operating and maintenance, tolerances, limitations and efficiencies of commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous supervisory experience in a union environment preferred.
