What does this role look like?

Join us at Lockheed Martin as an Electronics Packaging Engineer within our Electronics Packaging department where you will have responsibilities for electronics packaging development including mechanical design, stress and thermal analysis, an electronics and mechanical CAD (drawing development and release).


Key activities you will accomplish in this role:

• Perform packaging of drawing releases including CCTC management, PMP processing, drawing problem report initiation, and oversight of drawing development and release schedules.

• Perform research, design, develop, and test a variety of electro/mechanical equipment and systems to include circuitry components, analog and digital computers, and control test equipment.


To be effective in this role, you will need:

• Experience with full product design life cycle.

• Knowledge of the definition, interpretation, and implementation of design requirements

• Coordination and execution of hardware designs

• Development and integration of hardware for both custom and procured electronic assemblies in accordance with all Lockheed Martin Space engineering process specifications

• Experience participating in Design Reviews and providing technical feedback.

• 5+ years of professional experience with a Bachelor's; or 3+ years of professional experience with a Master's degree.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

• Experience as a technical lead overseeing a mechanical design through its life cycle

• Mechanical hardware or harness design, manufacturing and integration experience.

• Experience with PWB/CCA design (IDX files, board outlines, connector selection, artwork review, component mounting, cooling techniques)

• CAD modeling and drafting experience (CREO, SolidWorks and/or similar CAD data modeling experience, model based engineering)

• Experience in tolerance analysis (vector loop analysis, tolerance stack up), bolted joint engagement

Desired Skills:

• Exposure to DFx Principles (Design for Affordability, Design for Manufacturability, etc.).

• Stress and thermal analysis (primarily using Ansys)

• Ability to communicate issues and additional resource needs to leadership.

• Experience with subcontracted hardware suppliers.

• Experience with 3D printing/prototyping.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint).

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $89,300 - $157,550. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
