Nike Merchant II Direct Value WE - Converse in Hilversum, Netherlands

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

We’re looking for a Merchant to join our Converse Direct Value team, covering our Outlet Stores across the WE value marketplace.

You will collaborate with the diverse and cross-functional Converse Stores team, including Merchandising, Store Operations, VM/Marketing, Field, and Finance, driving the business across WE Outlet Stores.

You will also work closely with the Merchandising, Planning, and Allocation teams to integrate consumer insights and market trends into a unified assortment strategy tailored for the Value channel.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

In this role, you will focus on delivering consumer-right assortments and managing strategic initiatives, from future line planning to seasonal execution. With a buyer’s mindset, your priority will be to curate the WE Stores line plan, ensuring consumers have clear and compelling product choices tailored to the Value marketplace.

Success in this role will come from a combination of flexibility, collaboration, and a sharp approach to balancing structure and process. We seek a Merchant who thrives in a dynamic trading environment, can balance the art and science of assortment building, and consistently exceeds profitable growth targets.

This role requires a team player with strong communication skills who can effectively collaborate across teams and adapt to evolving consumer and market needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 2 years of experience in retail and merchandising, demonstrating strong product, retail, and merchandising acumen.

  • Proven ability to translate consumer and marketplace insights (e.g., trends in color, materials, and fashion) into compelling product and assortment recommendations specific to Value Stores.

  • Experience in pricing strategy, markdown planning, and managing inventory within a Value channel environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in retail math to deliver data-driven recommendations and results.

  • Team player with excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional partners effectively.

  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines and competing priorities while demonstrating a self-starter attitude and problem-solving mindset.

  • Familiarity with retail and merchandising tools or systems (e.g., Excel, Tableau) preferred.

  • Prior experience in a Value Store environment and an understanding of Visual Merchandising is a plus.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As a Merchant II for Value Stores, you will:

  • Leverage data, consumer insights, and marketplace trends to create value-driven seasonal assortments aligned with brand initiatives and key retail moments.

  • Balance product supply from multiple sources, including closeouts, rebuys, and other inventory inputs, to deliver cohesive plans that drive business outcomes.

  • Collaborate with the cross-functional stores’ team to drive the pricing process, including markdown and promotional planning, to achieve profitability and inventory efficiency goals.

  • Drive pre-season assortment planning, providing clear direction to cross-functional teams. During the season, optimize business performance by leveraging trade levers and in-season analytics.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align assortment strategies, ensuring local relevance and speed-to-market.

  • Provide insights and recommendations that inform future product and business planning, focusing on consumer preferences in the Value marketplace.
