Guardian Life Business Intelligence Strategic Portfolio & Program Leader, Group Benefits in Holmdel, New Jersey
The Business Intelligence Strategic Portfolio & Program Leader is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and management of BI and data initiatives within the Group Benefits Insurance sector. This role will oversee a portfolio of BI and data projects, ensuring alignment with business goals, while driving innovation and operational excellence. The leader will also manage special projects that are critical to the organization’s strategic initiatives, providing expert guidance and direction in data-driven decision-making.
You will
Portfolio Management
•Lead the BI and data solutions portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
•Prioritize projects based on business impact, resources, and strategic alignment.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address business needs with data-driven solutions.
•Data Strategy and Solutions Development:
•Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the organization’s business objectives.
•Oversee the design, development, and deployment of BI tools, data warehousing, and analytics platforms.
•Drive the adoption of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions to enhance decision-making processes.
•Special Projects Leadership:
•Manage high-impact special projects from initiation through execution, ensuring they meet business objectives.
•Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis and trends.
•Collaborate with senior leadership to support critical business initiatives and deliver key outcomes.
•Stakeholder Engagement:
•Act as a liaison between business units, IT, and external partners to ensure effective communication and alignment.
•Present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the success of BI and data initiatives.
•Team Leadership and Development:
•Lead and mentor a team of BI analysts, data engineers, and project managers.
•Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and data-driven decision-making.
•Identify training and development needs within the team to build capabilities in emerging BI and data technologies.
•Governance and Compliance:
•Ensure compliance with data governance policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
•Oversee the security and integrity of data across all BI and analytics platforms.
•Implement data quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability.
You have
•Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
•Minimum of 7+ years of experience in business intelligence, data solutions, or analytics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
•Proven experience in the insurance industry, particularly in group benefits, is highly desirable.
•Strong project management experience, with a track record of successfully leading large-scale BI and data initiatives.
•Technical Skills:
•Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView) and data warehousing solutions.
•Advanced knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, SQL, and data governance.
•Familiarity with machine learning and AI applications in BI is a plus.

Location
This is a flexible position requiring 2 days per week in the office, with preference given to candidates within commuting proximity to a Guardian office, which include:

We will consider remote candidates if experience is aligned and ability to travel to Guardian offices as determined by the People Leader.
Salary Range
$126,970.00 - $208,600.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
