This Position is for a Plant Controller with a company located in Horn Lake, MS.
Responsibilities:
Standard Costs: Position is responsible for standard cost accuracy for assigned facilities. Accurate and timely review and/or maintenance of costs within the manufacturing system inclusive of labor and overhead rates, freight in estimates and purchase costs to insure proper product costing. Responsible for costing setup and production cost flow through an ERP system. Responsible for working with facility management teams to establish expense budgets and reforecasts as necessary. Establish and update labor and overhead rates based on budgeted expenses and revenue estimates. Establish and update material standards based on last price paid or communicated actual costs. Responsible for analyzing manufacturing router times and recommending updates to ensure accuracy of labor costs in the Bills of Materials. Responsible for daily review of work order and purchasing variances to identify issues. Work with the appropriate people to make corrections. Responsible for system cost rolls to ensure accuracy of standard costs and capture ECN updates. Prepare and continuously improve management reports used to analyze variances to standard cost and provide tools to help monitor and manage production costs, including productivity reporting and PPV analysis.
Inventory Valuation: Position is responsible for accurate inventory valuations for assigned locations. Partner with facility management to ensure accuracy of the perpetual inventory. Responsible for monthly and year-end inventory valuations in accordance with GAAP and inventory reporting that meets the needs of management and independent auditors. Responsible for monthly reconciliation of perpetual to G/L inventory. Identify issues and make corrections as necessary. Responsible for implementation and management of the cycle count program to ensure proper count coverage and accuracy to prevent the need for a physical inventory. Analyze over issues and work with the team to determine root causes and put measures in place to prevent them. Measure inventory turns and work with facility management in improvement activities. Analyze inventory obsolescence, gain/loss and scrap on a regular basis to ensure inventory is properly stated and quantified. Manage necessary tasks for year-end process including physical inventory (if required), cut off procedures, closing accounts, journal entries, LIFO calculations, account reconciliations and communication with outside auditors.
Month End/Year End: Responsible for the month end and year end closing process of the manufacturing system and General Ledger account reconciliations as assigned. Prepare all month-end close entries as required. All entries related to the proper accounting of the inventory, inclusive of the reconciliation of the perpetual inventory to the general ledger. Prepare monthly CSMS (warranty) journal entry to the proper accounts and ensure accurate data is included in the warranty analysis file. Perform miscellaneous expense reclassifications as required. Responsible for State manufacturing tax credit/incentive reporting.
Other: Financial support for plant leadership, including project analysis, local scorecards, productivity metrics etc. Continuous improvement mindset to drive positive change and financial improvement. Responsible for local financial controls. Understand configurator logic to coordinate and assist in development, testing and implementation of new options/processes added to JDE/BI/ EXCEL. Take a lead role in the implementation and testing of new or upgrades to computerized manufacturing / accounting systems. Conduct financial evaluation of process improvement projects related to safety, quality, and efficiency. Analyze expense spending accounts for cost reduction opportunities. Provide ROI/IR calculations for capital projects. Take a lead role in facility budget and forecast preparation. Manage Open Accrued Accounts Payable balances and aging. Supervision of Accounting staff, including the oversight and functions of inventory accounts payable, efficiency reporting, inventory transaction processing and clearing account reconciliation. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting from four-year college or university and a minimum of five years related experience. Experience in a complex manufacturing environment required. Experience in transforming processes by leveraging technology is required. Professional certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) preferred.
Knowledge / Skill Requirements: The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Excellent operating and financial understanding of computer-based manufacturing systems. JD Edwards experience is preferred. Proficiency using Excel spreadsheets. 10 to 20% travel required.
