Position Summary:
This role will support the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences! Performs accounting assignments involving the preparation of financial statements and reports. Applies accounting principles and procedures to ensure that financial reports and records are accurate and timely.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Consolidates monthly revenue and expense figures to produce monthly financial statements so that departments may operate with accurate financial information.
Balances departmental ledgers with those of the Accounting or State Comptroller’s Office by comparing the two and initiating adjustments so that accurate accounting records may be maintained.
Ensures that journal vouchers be prepared and transfers of funds be made so that monies and expenses are allocated to correct accounts in order to maintain accurate information for the departments.
Maintains accurate cash clearing accounts by comparing records of accounting and Medical Service Research and Development Plan (MSRDP), checking for accuracy, and reconciling discrepancies.
Maintains departmental budgetary restraints by auditing deficit expenditures, notifying the department of same, and assisting the department with account reconciliation so as to prevent deficit spending by a department.
Sets up and administers accounts. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of the data.
Prepares financial statements and reports. Provides professional accounting skills to prepare financial statements and reports by applying accounting principles to the analysis of department revenues and expenditures. Monitors departmental revenues and expenditures and provides reports to departmental administrators and managers.
Interprets departmental financial statements and reports. Audits journal and/or spreadsheet entries and vouchers for errors, balances revenues and expenditures, reconciles accounts, and advises departments of deficit accounts.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or its equivalent with at least twenty-four (24) hours of college level accounting credit.
Minimum Experience:
No experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
