MD Anderson Cancer Center Compliance Analyst - Institutional Biosafety Committee Administration in Houston, Texas

This role is a remote position within Houston or surrounding areas only and will be required to report to campus for business related needs as they arise.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Analyst for IBC, HEIPSCRO, and RSC
Serves as the Analyst for the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Human Embryonic Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Research Oversight Committee (HEIPSCRO) and Radiation Safety Committee (RSC). Assist investigators with satisfactory completion of protocol applications for review by the committees. Coordinates meetings including the presentation of meeting materials, preparation of the agenda, reservation of required meeting space, and confirms member attendance. Ensures accurate minutes of meetings and files appropriate reports of the minutes on time as required by institutional and departmental policies. Meets with the IBC committee chair to review compliance documents prior to the IBC meeting. Prepares corresponding PI memos after each meeting. Serves as an institutional resource by answering customer service calls and through email regarding IBC matters, answers questions and provides troubleshooting help to users with the IBC system. Refers problems to the Program Manager as appropriate. Updates the website as needed. Serves as a backup for Grant Congruency Analyst and IACUC Analyst. Assists with other areas as needed.
Oversees the IBC System Activities
Reviews the IBC System for submission for new registrations, modifications to registrations, and chemical short forms, then processes such submissions in accordance with departmental SOPs with respect to the priority status of the submissions. Interacts with the IBC members, faculty and staff to troubleshoot errors in the system. Works with the Program Manager to make system changes to correct such errors.
MTA Compliance Reviews
Serves as the primary reviewer of MTAs involving research with animals, recombinant and biological materials, hazardous agents, radioactive isotopes, and human embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells to ensure appropriate protocols and registrations have been submitted for the materials being transferred.
Trainer
Serves as the primary trainer on the IBC system. Provides orientation and trains new faculty, staff, and committee members on the operational procedures regarding the IBC, RSC, and HEIPSCRO committees.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree or higher in an area of science.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Four years experience in research or research compliance, general/legal regulatory compliance, corporate compliance, privacy compliance, billing and reimbursement or billing compliance, healthcare administration and/or general business as an analyst, auditor or fraud investigator. With preferred degree, two years of experience required. May substitute required degree with additional years of related experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Research laboratory experience.
