The Manual Machinist is a skilled tradesperson who sets up and operates a variety of manual machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.) to produce precision parts for the oil and gas industry. These parts could be components of drilling equipment, downhole tools, or other specialized machinery. The machinist works from blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications, ensuring that finished parts meet NOV's high quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and Interpret: Understand blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and technical specifications.
- Machine Setup: Select and install proper tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices. Set up and adjust machine controls and parameters for the specific machining operation.
- Machining Operations: Perform various machining operations such as turning, facing, boring, drilling, milling, grinding, and threading.
- Precision Measurement: Utilize precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances during and after machining.
- Quality Control: Conduct in-process inspections and final inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards and specifications.
- Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot machining problems or equipment malfunctions.
- Safety: Adhere to all NOV safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
Typical work is :
Monday to Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. Some over time might be needed
