Aerotek Per Diem CNC Machinist in Houston, Texas

THIS IS A CONTRACT POSITION LOCATED IN MIDLAND, TEXAS PAYING $192 PER DIEM

Job Title: CNC Machine Operator

Job Description

Create CNC programs for new development projects, typically direct from a part drawing. Develop CNC programs to work with setup and fixtures for optimal quality and minimal time. Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as HAAS Lathe and 3, 4, and 5 axis milling machining centers to make metallic and composite parts to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Download and run CNC programs that are required to facilitate the production of 3, 4, and 5 axis parts. Conduct machine set-ups by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices. Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications. Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards and ensuring compliance with Engineering Drawings and CAD models.

Responsibilities

  • Create CNC programs for new development projects from part drawings.

  • Develop CNC programs to optimize quality and minimize time.

  • Set up and operate HAAS Lathe and 3, 4, and 5 axis milling machining centers.

  • Download and run CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5 axis parts production.

  • Conduct machine set-ups, including installing and adjusting various components.

  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.

  • Verify settings and ensure compliance with Engineering Drawings and CAD models.

  • Use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

  • Determine materials, parts, and equipment required.

  • Set up and operate precision machine tools to make original parts, tools, and mechanisms.

  • Solve problems related to work-holding arrangements, unusual materials, machine settings, and tools.

  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • Document actions and communicate with other shifts.

  • Complete production work instructions.

  • Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and technical publications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Associates degree or certificate in a technical area

  • Assembly or manufacturing experience

  • High aptitude for working with small electronic components, including soldering

  • Experience in the space or aeronautical field

Work Environment

Clean room environment - must wear smocks, hair net, beard net, and shoe covers.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00
