The Department of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology (IBP) is interested in the cell biology, physiology and pharmacology of cell regulation and communication. Our major research themes include the molecular mechanisms and spatiotemporal dynamics of membrane signaling, intracellular and metabolic signaling, the biology and physiology of cell-cell interactions, and the use of computational, structural and systems approaches to decipher signaling networks.

The primary goal of this laboratory is to understand the molecular mechanisms governing the sorting, trafficking, and storage of cellular lipids in health and disease. A major direction has been to define how lipid droplets originate and grow from the endoplasmic reticulum.

Overall, the work has important implications for obesity, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular and neurogenerative diseases.

Position Summary:

A biomedical postdoc position provides an opportunity for early-career researchers to gain valuable experience, develop independent research skills, and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in their field of expertise.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Fluorescence Microscopy, cell culture, mouse physiology, protein purification, lipid analyses

Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results.

Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.

Reads and evaluates literature.

Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels.

Have strong written and oral communication skills.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Doctoral/Terminal Degree

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
