Storage and Transportation, a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking a Project and System Engineer III for the Houston, TX office to provide advanced technical support and engineering expertise throughout the lifecycle of natural gas transmission pipeline systems, storage facilities, and associated facilities. Ensures the safe, reliable operation, maintenance, and construction of critical infrastructure within the natural gas sector.
Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions
• Manages and executes all phases of project development and design, including scope definition, front-end engineering, technical design for regulatory filing (including FERC), detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning.
• Oversees new pipeline construction and integrity initiatives and provides ongoing technical support for Operations, troubleshooting complex issues, optimizing existing facilities, and assisting with system modifications.
• Closely collaborates with various teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Partners and works effectively with various departments, such as Operations, Commercial, Regulatory, Environmental and Safety, to ensure project success.
Position Specifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, mechanical, civil, chemical, electrical or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in the natural gas industry or a relevant field, with hands-on experience in pipeline systems, storage facilities, and/or gas compression.
• 3 -8 years of experience managing projects in natural gas storage facilities, compression, and transmission, including both brownfield and greenfield installations.
• In-depth knowledge of natural gas midstream transmission pipelines, storage facilities, compression systems; technical knowledge of pipeline design, gas compression, electrical design, programmable logic control systems, and/or natural gas storage systems.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with various departments, such as Operations, System Planning, Commercial, Regulatory, Environmental and Safety.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organization, prioritization, and time management abilities, with a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Self-driven, dependable, and capable of working independently while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and project objectives.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and agencies, including FERC and PHMSA as well as industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, DOT.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and provide practical solutions.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and draft comprehensive reports and documentation.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines, while ensuring adherence to budget and safety standards.
