Description

We are seeking a Staff Accountant for an opportunity in Houston, Texas. As a Senior Accountant, you will oversee all aspects of property accounting, financial reporting, and analysis, as well as the financial operations of a real estate portfolio. This short term contract employment opportunity is within the real estate industry.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all aspects of property accounting.

• Prepare, distribute, and manage periodic financial statements for users and stakeholders.

• Ensure accuracy and efficiency in all transactions recorded in the Yardi system.

• Supervise and review the work of accounting clerks and entry level accountants.

• Conduct reconciliations for Common Area Maintenance (CAM) and other recoveries.

• Carry out periodic audits to ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies.

• Develop and manage financial forecasts and property budgets.

• Ensure correct billing of all rent and other tenant fees.

• Continuously strive to improve accounting processes and procedures.

• Collaborate closely with property management and leasing teams.

• Handle additional financial duties and ad hoc projects as required.

Requirements

• The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Senior Accountant role or similar.

• Proficiency in Property Accounting is required.

• Familiarity with the Planning, Programming, Budgeting & Execution Process (PPBE) is a must.

• The candidate must have experience in creating and managing Property Budgets.

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential.

• The candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is required.

• The candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team is necessary.

• The candidate must have the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Detail-oriented certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus.
