Senior Instrument Designer - EXPAT
KBR is providing Project Management Services encompassing Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning phase execution supporting KBR’s client Sonangol’s multi-billion-dollar grass roots Lobito Refinery Project in Angola Africa.
KBR is looking for a Senior Instrument Designer to assist in leading a site engineering support team on the Sonangol project. This position will facilitate project design and drafting management in accordance with industry and company standards to ensure corporate requirements are followed. The Senior Instrument Designer will assist in the review of construction activity work schedules to assure efficiency in the execution of tasks & in coordinating the distribution of construction work packages as necessary.
This position will mobilize China
Responsibilities:
Provide direction on critical activities requiring knowledge and expertise concerning instrumentation
Resolve drawing development issues and implementing revisions to record copy construction documentation
Develop construction scopes of work for use in defining work activities for construction contractors
Assist construction contractors with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of instrumentation and telecommunication systems as necessary
Provide design and drafting services for time / budget critical construction work packages
Communicate with vendors for material quotes and availability of materials
Create MTO lists by performing material take-offs to ensure the timely availability of items
Generate material requisitions for submittal to project managers for approvals
Maintain record of documents and correspondence pertaining to technical design issues throughout the development of projects
Provide a high level of expertise in relevant areas of design and drafting and ensure access to specialty resources and technology
Coordinate with project managers, purchasing agents, inspectors, engineering contractors, and construction contractors relating to design drawing content, materials and construction issues
Work with with project managers and engineering on design and project logistical issues to assure effective, linear progress of the project
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Engineering or related field
4 + years of directly related experience, with average experience ranging from 6-10 years
Proven ability with experience in a drafting environment developing electrical/instrument plans, sections and details, schematic/wiring diagrams and loop drawings
Site field experience working in refining and petrochemical facilities
Working knowledge of applicable NEC codes and industry standards
Proficient with latest versions of AutoCAD & the latest version of Microsoft Office software
Working knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) version 2018 & of Navis 3D viewer software
Proficient written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills to work with multi-disciplined construction team, and managers
Ability to handle multiple tasks at once & meet deadlines and mange priorities and solve problems
Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred
