Project Overview:

Bechtel is searching for a Senior Network Engineer for our Houston, Texas office. The Senior Network Engineer is a member of the Central Network and Technical Services group. This team is responsible for all aspects of enterprise network engineering, including Wireless, WAN, LAN, and Datacenter Network design and standards including Gateway/Firewall technologies providing outbound access to Internet and inbound access to applications hosted in datacenters.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for key elements of network or application infrastructure design, implementation, or support. You will provide budgetary input, identify effort levels of deploying new technologies, and develop the team by identifying deficiencies and training requirements. Your guidance and expertise will ensure the infrastructure meets project requirements and business needs. LI-TN1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead implementation and design projects in a global environment with team members in many countries around the world.

  • Provide regular status updates and metrics of work and projects.

  • Create and maintain operational standards, procedures, and diagrams.

  • Design, implement, and support network designs that meet security guidelines and follow industry standards and best practices for both wired and wireless networks.

  • Follow Change Management procedures and adhere to security guidelines.

  • Troubleshoot application and network performance issues in a multi-vendor environment with key elements of the architecture provided by Cisco, Juniper, PaloAlto, Aruba, F5, and others.

  • Provide third level technical support for complex connectivity and application access issues.

  • Provide occasional off-hours support.

  • Recommend solutions based on standards as well as proprietary solutions to complex networking requirements based on fitness for purpose and lifecycle cost, not single vendor approach.

  • Work with technology vendors to improve overall network performance and reliability.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level 1:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.

Level 2:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related curriculum of study.

  • 9 or more years of experience in IT Network Operations, with knowledge of and experience configuring network equipment and supporting user/application connectivity requirements.

  • 2 or more recent years of experience with either Juniper SRX or PaloAlto firewalls.

  • CCNP or JNCIP certification is preferred.

  • Requires US Citizenship.
