Sinclair Broadcast Group Payroll and Tax Business Analyst in Hunt Valley, Maryland
We are seeking highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll and Tax Business Analysts to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing payroll data, identifying process improvements, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and supporting the overall efficiency of payroll operations. You will work closely with various departments and stakeholders to optimize payroll systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements that drive accuracy and streamline workflows. Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Data Analysis:
Conduct regular analysis of payroll data to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions, including salary, benefits, deductions, and taxes.
Verify payroll data accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
Analyze payroll data and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
Process Enhancement and Optimization:
Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or redundancies in payroll processes.
Recommend and implement technology upgrades to improve efficiency.
Automate repetitive tasks and redesign workflows for streamlined operations.
Requirements Gathering:
- Collaborate with department leaders, end users, and management to collect and document system requirements.
System Testing and Troubleshooting:
Oversee QA testing for system releases, updates, and enhancements, including Oracle and Vertex quarterly and monthly testing.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to payroll systems.
Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare and present reports summarizing payroll data and analysis.
Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
Review and create payroll audit reports for accuracy.
Assist with external audits, including SOX and tax audits.
Documentation and Maintenance:
Create and maintain payroll documentation related to processing, operational procedures, compliance, and other payroll matters.
Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Certification: CPP or FPC certification preferred.
Experience: Extensive experience with business and process analysis, payroll systems, and processes.
Attention to Detail: High accuracy in data entry and calculations.
Payroll Software Proficiency: Experience with payroll platforms, especially Oracle HCM, is a plus.
Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
Multitasking: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
Integrity: High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
Microsoft Office Proficiency: Advanced skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite applications.
**This is an in-office role, 5 days a week at our Sinclair Headquarters located at 10706 Beaver Dam Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21030.
The base salary compensation range for this role is $68,000 to $80,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
