This position will be located in Huntington, WV. Responsibilities Serves in the Huntington District Safety Occupational Health Office as the coordinator for the Occupational Health, Medical Surveillance, Hearing Conservation, and Medical Records Keeping activities. Acts as the primary Medical Records Custodian (MRC) and performs maintenance, physical security, transfer, and archive of employees' medical records to verify documentation requirements are met per regulation. Coordinates medical evaluations and follows up on clearance letters by notifying managers/supervisors and employees of the medical clearance status and any additional medical evaluations needed until cleared. This position serves civilian employees of the Huntington District as the Occupational Health Nurse for the purpose of implementing a comprehensive Occupational Health Program. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and administers the Occupational Health Program (OHP) to establish goals and objectives for evaluating difficult program challenges and changing work procedures. Advises on the identification and establishment of Similar Exposure Groups (SEG) by working closely with the Industrial Hygienist (IH) and Safety and Occupational Health community. Degree: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.). -OR- Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: B. Specialized Experience: At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or above) which includes: 1.) managing occupational health services and other administrative nursing functions; 2.) performing health evaluations of employees; and 3.) providing education and training in first aid, CPR, and AED; AND on jobsite health hazard awareness and prevention. -OR- Exemption: You are exempt from the qualification requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) from a professional nursing program. OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education from a professional nursing program. C. Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Care Management Clinical Analysis and Judgement Healthcare Education Program Management Time in Grade Requirement: For the GS-11 - Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
