Actalent Controls Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama

Job Description

Hiring Controls Engineers that will be responsible for the completion of conveyor upgrade and system integration projects. This includes developing, creating, testing, implementing, and commissioning PLC programs for conveyor systems. The role requires initial code development, conforming to established in-house programming, and field commissioning. The engineer will comply with customer specifications on each project, ensuring system control and monitoring, testing, completing field testing documentation, and performing field commissioning and start-up activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, create, test, implement, and commission PLC programs for conveyor systems.

  • Ensure initial code development conforms to established in-house programming and field commissioning standards.

  • Comply with customer specifications, system control, and monitoring requirements.

  • Prepare detailed and complete PLC programs that are fully annotated and comply with system design drawings.

  • Fully test and document testing procedures for all programs and software developed.

  • Fill all commissioning documents

  • Conduct field commissioning and testing of assigned projects.

  • Work within a team to deploy and turn-over completed, tested systems to customers.

  • Travel to job sites as required for commissioning and start-up activities.

  • Collaborate with project managers, customers, and others to discuss and understand project specifications, scope, and design requirements.

Essential Skills

  • PLC programming - Allen Bradley

  • Commissioning

  • ControlLogix

  • Bachelors Degree in related field required

  • Experience with RSLogix

  • Experience with industrial control networks

  • Ethernet/IP communications

  • Material handling equipment is a nice to have

  • HMI's

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant Controls Engineering experience

Work Environment

This is a remote position with 80% travel to customer sites for the worlds leading parcel shipping companies.

  • The travel schedule is typically 10-4. Candidates should be located on the East Coast near major airports, including cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Louisville, New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Boston, Orlando, Ohio, and Alabama.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
