Description

SAIC is seeking an IT Systems Engineer located in Huntsville , AL to the US Army to manage and maintain a virtualized and physical server environment, as well as evaluate and integrate complex systems with an eye on secure, robust network infrastructure.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Install, configure, and manage virtualization environments using VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.

• Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and migrations of virtual and physical infrastructure.

• Design and execute strategies for secure system integration and robust network architecture.

• Monitor system performance, ensure data redundancy, and manage backup procedures.

• Collaborate with systems engineer and network engineer teams to enforce security policies and maintain best practices.

• Oversee network equipment installation, configuration, and optimizations post-integration.

• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and resolve issues promptly.

• Ensure effective integration of IT systems within cloud-based, hybrid, and on-premises environments.

• Document system configurations, standard operating procedures, and system changes.

• Lead cross-departmental initiatives for efficient, resilient system integration solutions.

• Stay current with trends in virtualization, system integration, cybersecurity, and network engineering.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors and two (2)+ years of relevant experience; additional four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.

• Must have hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.

• Experience in system integration with a background in cybersecurity and network engineering.

• Proficiency with network architecture and hands-on experience with network devices, protocols, and services.

• Strong understanding of server hardware, storage solutions, networking, and disaster recovery.

• Knowledge of current cybersecurity frameworks and risk management principles.

• Experience with scripting and automation tools.

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:

• Must be able to obtain a full Secret Clearance; Interim Secret required prior to start, SAIC will help to obtain.

• Must be a current U.S. Citizen.
