Education:

A high school diploma or GED

Requirements:

• 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred

Responsibilities:

• Performs venipuncture, heel sticks, and finger sticks to obtain blood samples for testing purposes.
• Properly identifies patients and follows procedures for collection of specimens. Processes and receives specimens into the laboratory, following laboratory protocol for specimen acceptability and rejection.
• Processes and sends specimens to reference laboratories. May assist with frozen and fresh specimens for pathology.
• Enters outpatient orders into Laboratory Information System.
• Collects chain of custody drug screens for pre-employment, post-accident, and just cause cases according to protocol.
• Assists with clerical duties and processing as needed. Performs other related functions as assigned.
