Operations Manager- Hutchinson, KS

This is a full-time salary exempt position

Position Summary

Lead the day to day operations of the flavored/unflavored production and packaging departments. This position reports to the site plant manager and is accountable for meeting safety, food safety, production and cost management requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure operators are properly trained to perform daily tasks as per safety and food safety procedures.

  • Drive safety engagement within operations team.

  • Provide mentorship, accountability and disciplinary support as necessary.

  • Communicate with both shifts on a daily basis to ensure adherence to production requirements

  • Verify daily production and complete manufacturing tickets.

  • Coach, counsel, and address performance gaps with team members including annual performance review.

  • Verify weekly payroll punches.

  • Liaison with HCF (Hutchinson Correctional Facility) with appropriate and timely communication regarding schedules and special requests for work release team members.

  • Establish and maintain staffing requirements to meet facility needs.

  • Ensure master sanitation schedule stays on track.

  • Embrace owner’s mentality by effectively managing safety, food safety, productivity, costs and yield to drive continuous improvement.

  • Develop and facilitate a robust shift hand off to ensure proper communication between outgoing and the oncoming shift.

  • Facilitate efficient production scheduling for Ultra Soy and Imagic production.

  • Facilitate the logistics of flour delivery (quantity and timing) to meet production schedule requirements.

Position Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree (preferred) in a science or similar area.

  • 5+ years experience in a food manufacturing environment in a leadership role.

  • Strong communication skills displaying an ability to present expectations and hold team members accountable to company and facility goals.

  • Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve manufacturing systems.

  • Continuous Improvement mindset

  • Ability to work in an environment that can be dusty, dirty, hot and noisy and may require climbing stairs and ladders.

  • Ability to prioritize workload

  • Make decisions in a fair and professional manner
