Partner with Great Coworkers: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in product design, a background in mechanical drafting and modeling, and a deep understanding of organizational change, stack-up analysis, and statistical analysis. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a team of versatile and dedicated professionals.

Model Design : Develop SolidWorks solid models that achieve design requirements using the best design practices and industry design standards.

Organizational Change: Partner with team members to thoroughly understand change requests and change notices. Perform feasibility and technical analyses to ensure the effective and successful implementation of changes.

R&D Leadership: Support new and existing product development pipelines through collaboration with the R&D teams to generate new product ideas, evaluate existing products, and evaluate new technologies for manufacturing, feasibility, and application

Design Analysis: Complete tolerance stack-up analysis and Metrology Data analysis using statistical analysis and Drive Technical reviews

Develop Engineering Standards: Create engineering design standards and role model usage.

A Day in the Life:

  • Develop and refine mechanical designs using 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks and Creo, adhering to mechanical drafting standards.

  • Create and maintain manufacturing drawings and documentation with a strong understanding of general drafting practices and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Lead design changes through various Design Organisational Change Systems (e.g., ECM, MCP, ECN) to ensure accurate and up-to-date design information.

  • Perform tolerance analysis of mechanical assemblies to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability.

  • Work with plastic materials and processing techniques when applicable, demonstrating experience in this area to advise design decisions.

  • Collaborate efficiently within a team and work independently to achieve project goals.

  • Use Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Data Management (PDM) systems proficiently to lead product data and workflows.

  • Apply problem-solving and data analysis methods to identify and resolve design and manufacturing issues efficiently.

  • Leverage excellent PC skills, including proficiency in MS Office and various CAD programs, to support design and documentation activities.

  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), ISO standards, and Lean Manufacturing concepts to maintain high-quality standards and efficient processes.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • A 4-year engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering / Biomedical Engineering or 4 Year Diploma in Tool and Die making with a minimum of 3 years of product design experience

  • Experience in industries like medical devices, aerospace, or the Department of Defense will be preferred.

Experience

  • Experience with mechanical drafting standards and modeling using SolidWorks / Creo

  • Ability to build manufacturing drawings and documentation with practical knowledge of general drafting practices and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

  • Knowledge in Design Organisational Change Systems (ECM / MCP / ECN etc..)

  • Experience with plastic materials and plastic processing is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Proficient in PLM & PDM systems.

  • Problem-solving and data analysis methods.
