GovCIO Senior Database Engineer (Remote) in Indianapolis, Indiana
Overview
GovCIO is currently hiringa talented and experienced Database Engineer to focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing SQL server and database solutions to support Veterans Affairs operational needs. This position will be fully remote located within the United States.
Responsibilities
This position involves leading database architecture, resolving advanced issues, and driving performance enhancements. Database Engineer plays a strategic role in ensuring the security, scalability, and reliability of organizational data systems. You will work directly with stakeholders, government leadership, and other engineers to create, maintain, and develop loss and full damage waiver tables for VA claim services. This role demands a self-driven, customer-focused individual who is proficient in learning, adapting, and applying new tools and technologies swiftly to meet our client’s needs.
Designing and implementing database structures that fit with current and future needs of the organization.
Expertise in designing and optimizing data structures for storage, retrieval, and analysis.
Writing efficient and optimized SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data.
Managing database security by setting up user roles and permissions.
Creating backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
Monitoring database performance and optimizing database structures for faster data access.
Troubleshooting and resolving database issues and errors.
Strong knowledge of relational database theory and SQL.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or a related field with 12 years of relevant experience, preferably in application support or development (4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education).
Proven ability to quickly learn, adapt, and effectively apply new tools and technologies.
Strong problem-solving skills, with a self-motivated and customer-focused approach.
Excellent communication skills, capable of working directly with stakeholders and team members.
Ability to handle projects independently, from requirement gathering to solution delivery.
Created data warehouse by replicating data and then transforming it into usable information.
Ensured timely and accurate completion of all database development and data management projects.
Facilitate with:
On-premises or cloud-based infrastructure
Datasets requirements
Security protocols need to be implemented
Functionalities based on the architectural style(s) or pattern(s) to be employed
Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
Developed SSRS reports for external/internal clients.
Tuned and optimized queries by altering database design, analyzing different query options and indexing strategies.
Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Posted Salary Range
USD $165,000.00 - USD $185,000.00 /Yr.
