Full-time position Wage: $59,716.80 - $76,460.80 (starting wage contingent upon experience) Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm, on call every 7 weeks

Job Summary Under general direction, operates heavy equipment and serves as a group leader in performing general construction, inspection, evaluation, maintenance, and repairs of sewer mains and related facilities.

Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other Associates degree from an accredited educational institution and one year of related experience; or three years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in wastewater sewer main construction and maintenance. Experience with permit required confined space entry and issuing of entry permits, site supervision and entry of said confined spaces. State of Iowa DNR Grade I Wastewater Operator certificate. State of Iowa DNR Grade II Wastewater Operator certificate required within 2 years of appointment. Flagger certification. Forklift certification required within two years of appointment. Confined space entry training. Satisfactory driving record. Valid State of Iowa commercial drivers license instruction permit upon first day in position. Valid State of Iowa Class A commercial drivers license with air brake and tank endorsements within 6 months of hire. Meet federal drug testing requirements. Requires a pre-employment drug screen. Must be 18 years of age. Must pass criminal background check. Must live within 25 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City, Iowa within one year of appointment to the position.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other Bachelors degree from an accredited educational institution; or four years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Competent person training in shoring and trenching. Association of Boards of Certification Wastewater Collection certificate.
