The Toro Company Design Engineer Co-Op - BOSS Snowplow in Iron Mountain, Michigan

Design Engineer Co-Op January through August 2025

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with design and prototyping of new products, and improvements to existing products Conduct tests, and collect and analyze data of new or existing products

  • Participate and Lead Rapid Improvement (Kaizen) events (1 week long event to improve processes)

  • Recognize and help with problem solving efforts in the Product Development Lab

  • Work with design engineers to reduce costs and help improve quality of product

Education:

  • Pursuing a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience:

  • Experience with 3D CAD software, Creo Parametric is a plus

  • Basics of manufacturing processes such as welding, metal cutting and forming, painting and assembly

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts

  • Experience in fixture design (part specific tables and tools to help with manufacturing practices)

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Strong leadership skills to lead a team and pull information from others

  • Problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Creo

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time Prioritize based on due dates or importance of projects
