Infinite Electronics International, Inc CAD Drafter II in Irvine, California

Position Description

The CAD Drafter LVL-2 is responsible for creating effective electromechanical and mechanical drawings to meet project requirements while adhering to the necessary drawing specifications with some guidance from both the Senior CAD Designer and CAD Supervisor. They utilize complex drafting/design software to make drawings, 3D models and output a high-quality technical drawing. The Drafter LVL-2 must be able to interpret sketches and blueprints for use in developing the drawings needed to support the project as well as identifying compliance with project guidelines. The Drafter LVL-2’s main duties include the creation of New Product Available drawings and supporting 3D models for Infinite Electronics products. They will be asked to peer check other’s drawings for accuracy and thoroughness. Additional duties will be assigned as necessary. This position reports to the CAD Supervisor. This person must demonstrate consistent and high-quality performance, be highly dependable, schedule and task driven, proactive and be able to work under limited supervision. Strong attention to detail, ability to follow through with multiple assignments and to receive, assimilate and relay technical information accurately are critical. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create or revise drawings as needed to support Infinite Electronics products.

  • Layout and draw orthographic views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, and machines.

  • Use provided specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to generate component support drawings.

  • Use computer-assisted drafting (CAD) software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

  • Provide accurate time estimates for work required.

  • Apply sound drafting/design principles in the development and documentation of products.

  • Thorough understanding of drafting principles and Manufacturing standards.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to support the New Product Availability business model.

  • Able to properly select drawing layouts of components and apply the dimensions needed with some guidance.

  • Able to use complex math as needed.

  • Produce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications.

  • Able to relay an idea/concept thru conversation, freehand drawing, showing other design examples.

  • Effectively manage your own time to support prioritized tasks.

  • Help maintain project schedules and schedule awareness through interaction with product management and CAD Supervisor.

  • Receive tasks aligned with continuous improvement efforts.

  • Take part in conferences with product managers as needed for project reviews and to provide answers as needed.

  • Perform job duties in an ethical and professional manner.

Key Requirements

  • A degree in a related field is not required for this position but is beneficial along with any industry certifications.

  • Must work well in a team setting as well as on their own with minimal supervision.

  • 4 years of relevant CAD experience and a demonstrated dedication to high quality CAD work is acceptable in lieu of degree.

  • Experience in creating, managing, and loading CAD files in the PDM SolidWorks environment.

  • High level of computer proficiency – MS Office, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Adobe.

  • Knowledge of ERP, SolidWorks CAD and SolidWorks PDM.

Preferred Requirements

  • Proficient with Smartsheet.

  • One year of practical electronics components experience.

  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (“Navision”) and SolidWorks PDM.

  • Additional languages (Spanish, Chinese).

Physical Job Requirements

  • Repetitive motion and routine use of the standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, copiers, and scanners.

  • Must be able to work in an office environment with extended use of a computer.

Environment

The work environment can be an office environment located on-site or a home office during normal or extended business hours.
