Position: Pipeline Integrity Engineer

Job Summary:
California based Oil & Gas company that specializes in the transportation and storage of crude oil is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pipeline Integrity Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our oil pipeline systems across various operational environments. The Pipeline Integrity Engineer will be responsible for the assessment, maintenance, and enhancement of pipeline integrity to prevent failures, leaks, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Pipeline Integrity Management: Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the Pipeline Integrity Management Program (PIMP). This includes risk assessments, integrity testing, and corrosion control measures.
Inspection and Monitoring: Conduct regular inspections using techniques like In-Line Inspection (ILI), hydrostatic testing, and direct assessment. Utilize SCADA systems and other leak detection technologies to monitor pipeline operational health.
Data Analysis: Analyze data from inspections, monitoring systems, and maintenance activities to predict potential failures, assess integrity threats, and plan preventative measures.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all operational activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including those from DOT, PHMSA, and environmental agencies. Participate in audits and inspections by regulatory bodies.
Project Management: Lead or support projects aimed at improving pipeline integrity. This might involve rehabilitation projects, new construction integrity assessments, or implementing new integrity technologies.
Technical Expertise: Provide technical support and guidance on pipeline integrity issues to operations, maintenance, and construction teams. This includes training on new methodologies or equipment related to pipeline integrity.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on pipeline integrity status, risk assessments, and compliance. Maintain accurate records of all integrity activities, findings, and resolutions.
Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with external stakeholders, including vendors, regulatory bodies, and emergency response teams, to coordinate integrity activities and emergency responses.
Innovation and Improvement: Stay updated with the latest technologies and methodologies in pipeline integrity. Propose and implement innovative solutions for integrity issues.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
A Master's degree or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in pipeline integrity, pipeline operations, or a related field within the oil and gas industry.
Skills:
Proficiency in integrity analysis, GIS systems, and SCADA systems.
Strong understanding of pipeline design, materials science, corrosion control, and risk assessment methodologies.
Excellent project management skills with an ability to lead teams or coordinate with contractors.
Analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Effective communication skills for reporting to management and regulatory bodies.
Certifications: Certifications in pipeline integrity, corrosion control, or related fields are advantageous.
Physical Requirements: Ability to travel to pipeline sites, often in remote locations, and perform fieldwork which might include lifting and exposure to outdoor conditions.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
