Summary:

Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Inc. (CED), a large, nationwide wholesale electrical distribution company, is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join the Loss Control Department.

The Safety Coordinator will report to CED’s Loss Control Manager and is primarily responsible for CED’s safety and loss control programs while acting as a liaison/resource for the field.

Loss Control Department Summary: The Loss Control Department oversees CED’s 700+ locations throughout the United States and supports affiliated companies as needed on issues and activities related to property & casualty insurance, related claims, and safety.

Reports to: Loss Control Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in safety-related fields preferred

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices

  • Designations/Certifications considered: ARM, CSM, CSP, CIH, OSHA 10, OSHA 30

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and experience using Riskonnect, e-CARMA or other RMIS preferred

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Takes ownership for establishing reports and assessing data obtained

  • Able to transfer data to meaningful reports and action items

  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

Working Conditions:

This position operates in a professional office environment and may require sitting for extended periods of time.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Develop and manage relationships with all stakeholders to the Loss Control Department

  • Assure compliance with OSHA reporting requirements and perform the annual OSHA 300, 300A reporting, posting and submission process

  • Assist locations with survey requests from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS)

  • Oversee compliance with OSHA Reporting for Severe WC Claims as defined by Federal/State OSHA plans

  • Point of contact for the field for OSHA inspections/complaints/penalties. Maintain a list of all completed OSHA inspections with a copy of the post-inspection reports and advise the Loss Control Manager of any safety violations, fines or trends

  • Advise the Loss Control Manager of any OSHA rule changes (Federal or State) that could impact existing training material or educational resources and work with the Loss Control Manager to update all resources

  • Advise the Loss Control Manager on safety and risk trends and produce appropriate reports for both CED’s field and service center personnel

  • Work with Fleet Manager on auto loss trends and assist with reviewing auto claims for potential penalties

  • Review and maintain safety resources within the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan intranet site found on the CED Loss Control page

  • Review and maintain training resources at CED University to ensure it covers all safety requirements

  • Work with the Disaster Assistance Team with the Loss Control Manager

  • For workers’ compensation lost time claims, work with Profit Center managers to identify and utilize modified duty return to work options including modified duty provided by non-profit organizations

  • Assist in the other operational functioning of the Loss Control Department, including assisting with CED’s customer and vendor certificates of insurance program, surety bonds, maintaining CED’s statement of values for property and inventory insurance, and responding to general Loss Control emails

  • Other projects and tasks as assigned
