Ithaca College ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - SPORTS MEDIA in Ithaca, New York

The Ithaca College invites applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor appointment in the Sports Media interdisciplinary program beginning Fall 2025 in Ithaca, NY. This position joins the Roy H. Park School of Communications with 65+ full-time faculty dedicated to teaching excellence who offer 8 degree programs for over 1500 majors, along with 9 minors. The Park School is housed in a state-of-the-art facility with a $5M inventory of film and digital media portable equipment, multiple studio spaces, and cutting-edge technologies including an LED surround wall for virtual production.

Primary responsibilities include teaching classes in Sports Media and related programs in Journalism and sports production, and contributing new courses relevant to the future of Sports Media.

The successful candidate will teach a full course load per academic year, act as an academic advisor for students, and serve on Department, School, and College committees. There is an also an expectation of research and/or creative work. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to teach in ways that value the varied learning needs and interests of a culturally diverse student population, and that reflect a commitment to encouraging success in all students.

Qualifications: A master’s degree and significant professional sports media experience is required. A doctorate in sports media or related field and significant professional sports media experience is preferred. We prefer candidates who have a record of successful college teaching.

Hiring Range: $61,000 - $63,500, dependent on discipline, qualifications and experience.
