U.S. Marine Corps TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (PASSENGER) in Iwakuni, Japan

Summary You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (PASSENGER) in the Logistics Department of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI. ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Responsibilities You will determine passenger travel eligibility using DoD guidance for Air Transportation Eligibility and the DoD Foreign Clearance Guide (FCG). You will ensure adherence to mandatory provisions of the Joint Travel Regulation (JTR) and the Joint Federal Travel Regulation (JFTR). You will assist customers with travel at the passenger terminal or by remote sign up; you will collect travel orders/authority to travel documents from all passengers and files with flight package, checks IDs, passports, and visas. You will control entry by preventing unauthorized articles coming into the passenger terminal and ensures that emergencies and security violations are readily discovered and reported to the appropriate authorities. You will review and monitor all actions taken by flight/shift personnel to ensure accuracy and adherence to established procedures and compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing passenger travel services (e.g. reviewing travel documents, preparing and issuing boarding passes, weighing and tagging baggage, completing cash transactions, and providing a variety of information to passengers related to flight arrivals and departures, itineraries, customs clearance requirements, seat availability, collect monies associated with travel, etc.) while following well defined and precise program procedures and regulations. GS-05: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: assisting with providing passenger travel services (e.g. reviewing travel documents, preparing and issuing boarding passes, weighing and tagging baggage, completing cash transactions, and providing a variety of information to passengers related to flight arrivals and departures, itineraries, customs clearance requirements, seat availability, collect monies associated with travel, etc.) while following well defined and precise program procedures and regulations. Education In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: GS-06: No education substitution. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.
