This vacancy is located in the Psychology Department of Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson, LA (East Feliciana Parish). ELMHS is the largest 24-hour, multi-site, state psychiatric complex, comprised of residential, outpatient and inpatient services.

  • This posting may be used to fill vacancies in other divisions or units at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System.

    The position may be filled as either a Probational (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified and Agency wide permanent status employees); by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointed if selected.

Salary is negotiable based on experience.

This position may be filled as an associate 1 to a psychologist - associate 3 to a psychologist

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A master's degree in psychology.

Job Concepts

Function of Work:

To provide a limited number of psychological services, including psychometric evaluation, data collection and analysis and to assist in implementation of some fully specified and prescribed standard therapeutic procedures.

Level of Work:

Entry.

Supervision Received:

Clinical supervision is received from a licensed psychologist. Close administrative supervision is provided by a facility administrator, licensed psychologist, or other professional at a higher level.

Supervision Exercised:

May supervise lower-level social services and clerical personnel.

Location of Work:

May be used by all state agencies--statewide.

Job Distinctions:

Differs from the Associate 2 to a Psychologist by the absence of journeyman level duties.

Examples of Work

Selects, administers, scores, and interprets psychological tests (with guidance).

Writes reports summarizing results of psychometric evaluations (with guidance).

Performs specific tasks in implementing habilitative programs using psychological techniques with designated clients.

Conducts observations, records data, and performs statistical analyses of data for approved program design and evaluation or for research projects.

Functions in a limited capacity as a member of an inter-disciplinary team and may carry out counseling or other psychological services as recommended by the interdisciplinary team.
