The selected candidate will have the following Duties and Responsibilities

Daily inspection of various work areas including sea going vessels, piers, docks, and buildings. Ensuring compliance with safety / health regulations, company policies and procedures, consensus standards, and customer requirements. Identifying and facilitating corrections of potential hazards, hazards, and infractions, or ceasing operations until corrected. Areas of concern: life and safety codes, safe work practices, personal protective equipment, slips, trips, fall protections, fire prevention, confined and enclosed space entry, hazard communication standards and Global Harmonizing System, electrical safety, machine guarding, etc.

  • Conduct Housekeeping and Fire Prevention walks onboard vessels for each shift.

  • Attend the morning production meetings (daily) for the availabilities they are working.

  • Attend the afternoon production meetings (daily) for the availabilities they are working.

  • Compose and disseminate the Housekeeping and Fire Prevention walks onboard vessels.

  • Conduct incident / injury investigations.

  • Send incident / injury reports to government, as required.

  • Write Report of Investigation for all incidents / injuries.

  • Monitor lab results for paint samples and complete / update Initial Determinations for SERMC.

  • Complete Subcontractor Check-in process with all subcontractors for each availability.

  • Conduct Safety portion of New Hire Orientation.

  • Conduct Monthly Safety Training.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Required Education: High School diploma / GED and previous work in the field of Safety or a related field (1 year minimum)

  • Good communication skills, ability to interact with a variety of people on various level, and ability to teach large groups.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office- especially Word and Excel

  • Able to meet Physical Demands

  • Able to obtain DBIDS.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • OSHA 521 OSHA Guide to Industrial Hygiene

  • OSHA 3095 Electrical Standards

  • OSHA 3115 Fall Protection

  • OSHA 5410 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Maritime Industry

  • Shipyard Competent Person

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $41200 - $65900

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
