Trailer Mechanic

Open to entry level with automotive background and good mechanic skills/carpenter skills.

Job Description

• We are seeking a qualified Trailer Mechanic who has experience working with their hands and is mechanically inclined.

• The role involves working on semi-truck chassis, including brake systems, electrical systems (lighting), and potentially changing tires.

• Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing 53' cargo containers, which includes welding, repairing metal damage, replacing floorboards, and repainting the containers.

Responsibilities

• Work on semi-truck chassis, focusing on brake systems and electrical systems (lighting).

• Change tires as needed.

• Maintain and repair 53' cargo containers.

• Weld and repair holes in metal containers.

• Replace floorboards in cargo containers.

• Repaint cargo containers.

Essential Skills

• Experience with welding (MIG).

• Fleet maintenance and repair.

• Knowledge of braking systems and wiring.

• Mechanical repair skills.

• Ability to use hand tools and impact tools.

• Experience with equipment maintenance.

• Mechanically inclined.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any carpentry or welding experience is a big plus.

• Experience with preventive maintenance.

• Knowledge of electrical systems.

• Ability to read blueprints.

• Experience with troubleshooting and hydraulics.

• DOT inspection knowledge.

Work Environment and Shift

• The work environment is an open bay trailer shop operating from Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

• The shop is not temperature controlled, but there are multiple large fans throughout to keep it cool.

• The shop can accommodate up to 10 trucks at one time, with a total of 12-15 employees working in the shop.

• Tools required for the job include various hand tools, power tools, and a mobile tool storage unit.

• Employees are encouraged to bring their own toolbox to the shop.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
