Job Summary

The Enterprise Data & Data Capabilities team in Technology is focused on a transformative journey with a product centric mindset and agile delivery to drive efficiencies, reset our technology backbone, and support a path forward data strategy on how we develop and deliver critical business outcomes.

Our team is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join as a Vice President, Agile Coach and Lead Scrum Master, reporting directly to Head of Data Capabilities Portfolio Management to support Agile process adoption and execution as well as drive execution of product roadmaps. We’re looking for someone who can influence culture change without being authoritarian to effectively transform our department from traditional ways of working to agile ways of working. In addition, the successful candidate must be a lead scrum master who can guide teams through creating a product backlog, conducting sprint planning sessions, managing day-to-day problems with the capability teams and removing blockers to coach and lead scrum masters manage overall delivery whilst adopting an agile methodology and managing project timelines and risks. This is a highly visible and impactful position as the role requires coaching senior leaders in agile practices to ensure buy-in and ensure that overall strategy is met.

This is a dual-hatted role where the individual works as both an Agile Coach and a Lead Scrum Master. You may lead a small team of scrum masters, emphasizing agile adoption, process optimization, and continuous delivery of Data, AI, and BI Products & Services.

Major Responsibilities

  • Plan and design the adoption of Agile across multiple teams

  • Provide training to the team on the agile process and continuous improvement

  • Serve as a role model for Agile values

  • Develop and take ownership of training and enablement materials to support Agile process adoption and execution

  • Establish and maintain a strong working knowledge of enterprise policies and frameworks for execution of Agile methodologies and project management tools

  • Be a trusted advisor on project planning and strategies to align with the enterprise Agile methodologies

  • Coach leaders (Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and executives) on Agile leadership practices

  • Ensure development teams adhere to Lean/Agile values, practices, tools, and rules

  • Develop and execute actionable continuous improvement strategies that increase teams' efficiency and effectiveness

  • Develop roadmap for future Agile practices

  • Hold inspect and adapt meetings to ensure strategies are producing the outcomes expected

  • Field questions on the Agile process during project execution and support progress evaluation

  • Proactively identify and help remediate project risks and process issues, advising on cross-functional risk and impediment management processes

  • Work with Agile process owners to coordinate dependency planning and management among Agile teams, stakeholders, and shared services

  • Help product owners/team members write user stories, calculate capacity, and prepare for scrum meetings

  • Help Scrum Masters in preplanning, planning, daily scrum, and review and retrospective

  • Monitor industry trends and best practices and apply insights to advance the business

  • Collaborate with business units and other technology divisions to advance organizational objectives

  • Drive execution of product roadmap, working closely with product design, and development teams

  • Manage features prioritization and estimation with focus on business value

  • Establish project governance, working groups, and communication with stakeholders

  • Ensure roadmap is socialized with stakeholder groups and risks and dependencies are identified and escalated

  • Ensure timetable and deliverable schedules are understood and communicated, and drive on-time delivery across teams

  • Manage dependencies proactively, coordinate across teams to resolve issues and mitigate risks

  • Identify reporting needs and cadence for stakeholder groups and manage delivery

  • Produce required reporting for business and technology management review sessions

  • Track financials related to expenditures including software, hardware, and resource allocation

  • Create an environment of collaboration within the teams that allows for open dialogue and productive solutions for resolving conflicts

  • Use technical and product knowledge to build an understanding of both sprint and product backlogs

  • Support talent development for less experienced Scrum Masters

  • Coach the scrum team and stakeholders on how to use Agile/Scrum tools and practice at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization

  • Develop and maintain centralized resource plan/ capacity for the department.

  • Support management with administrative tasks including but not limited to vendor contracts, budget, Town Halls, etc.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of overall experience with most recent 5 years in the Banking sector

  • 8+ years’ most recent experience coaching global teams in Agile adoption required

  • 8+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master required

  • 6+ years’ experience creating Agile strategies, leading Agile projects and driving cross-functional engagements with project stakeholders and shared services

  • 6+ years’ experience training colleagues in Agile strategies and principles

  • 8+ years’ experience managing technology projects

  • 8+ years’ experience building project roadmaps, strategies, and backlogs

  • 8+ years’ experience in developing and managing resource plans and estimations

  • Education- Bachelor’s degree in science or business or management or finance related fields. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • 8+ years of experience with advanced knowledge in Atlassian Jira and Confluence

  • 5+ years of Jira Query Language (JQL)

  • 8+ years of experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

  • 3+ years of Planview Portfolio Management Software Product/Application

  • 3+ years of expertise PowerBI to develop executive dashboards

  • Proficiency in Office 365 and Exchange

Certifications

  • Certified Scrum Master or Professional Scrum Master Certification

  • CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) preferred

  • PSPO (Professional Scrum Product Owner) preferred

  • Strong organizational, communication (verbal & written), and interpersonal skills

  • Outstanding facilitation and coaching skills

  • Ability to present both in person and virtually to senior management and train client audiences on a business and technical level.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $135K - $160K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
