JWF Industries Mechanical Engineer in JOHNSTOWN, Pennsylvania

Shift Hours: Generally M-F, 7:00am-4:00pm

Job Description: JWF Industries is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the many commercial and Defense projects that comprise the business portfolio of JWF Industries.  The position will be based in Johnstown, PA.  This position is critical to the planning and execution of projects. The successful candidate must be able to establish project requirements and ensure the successful implementation of all project details.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated work experience in a metal manufacturing industry environment, and an accredited degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).

Essential Duties: 

Review project proposals and understand project requirements to:

  • develop project objectives
  • identify project phases and elements of each phase
  • establish specifications for projects
  • build a plan within the quoting stage of the project

Coordinates project activities to include technical developments, scheduling, and resolving drawing issues; assists Project Managers with project plan and job costs.

Reviews projects for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

Prepares interim and completion project reports.

Education Level: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with working knowledge of computer aided drafting/drawing software (AutoCAD, Inventor, etc.)

Experience: Work requires demonstrated Tooling and Layout Design capabilities in a manufacturing environment, and a commitment to Process Improvement.

Must have the demonstrated ability to resolve problems.

Work will require a high-level of attention to detail, as well as the ability to prioritize frequently changing priorities.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands (including gripping & grasping) and reach with arms. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee will frequently walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision requirements such as color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
